DevOps + Go (Platform Engineer )

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a DevOps + Go (Platform Engineer) based in United Arab Emirates.

The DevOps + Go Platform Engineer will help build and evolve an internal developer platform and CI/CD ecosystem supporting multiple products and infrastructure environments. This hands-on role combines advanced infrastructure engineering with practical Go development to improve deployment reliability, operational efficiency, and developer experience. You will work across Kubernetes-based environments, on-premise systems, Windows and Hyper-V infrastructure, and cloud or hybrid deployments on AWS, Azure, and GCP. From modernizing deployment tools to optimizing ephemeral environments, your work will directly influence how engineering teams build, test, and deliver software. You will have significant ownership, investigating complex systems independently and driving improvements from discovery through implementation. Collaboration with R&D, QA, SRE, and infrastructure teams will be central to delivering scalable, reliable platform solutions.

Accountabilities

Responsibilities

You will take ownership of infrastructure improvements, platform tooling, and deployment workflows across a diverse technology landscape. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, build, maintain, and optimize scalable CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD.
  • Support and improve infrastructure across multiple products, including on-premise, cloud-based, and hybrid environments.
  • Develop, maintain, and refactor internal platform tools and services in Go, including a next-generation replacement for the existing deployment system.
  • Independently investigate infrastructure environments, identify weaknesses and bottlenecks, and implement measurable improvements.
  • Optimize staging and ephemeral environments to improve performance, reliability, and operating costs.
  • Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform and Ansible.
  • Strengthen observability through Grafana, OpenSearch, metrics, monitoring, and alerting systems.
  • Participate in operational support and troubleshooting activities as part of a shared team responsibility.
  • Collaborate with R&D, QA, SRE, and infrastructure teams to improve developer workflows and accelerate software delivery.
  • Work across both modern technology stacks and legacy systems, including Windows Server and Hyper-V environments.

Requirements

The ideal candidate combines strong DevOps and platform engineering expertise with recent production-level Go development experience. You should demonstrate technical independence, sound systems thinking, and a practical approach to solving complex infrastructure challenges. Key qualifications include:

  • At least 3–5 years of DevOps or Platform Engineering experience at a senior level.
  • Hands-on experience deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting on-premise infrastructure, including hardware and infrastructure-level issues.
  • Practical experience with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Recent production experience with Go, including developing tools, exporters, automation solutions, or backend services rather than relying solely on scripts.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
  • Solid knowledge of GitLab CI/CD.
  • Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
  • Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring technologies, including Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, Prometheus, or VictoriaMetrics.
  • Willingness and ability to work with legacy systems and Windows environments, including Windows Server, Hyper-V, and PowerShell.
  • A strong ownership mindset, with the ability to take initiatives from initial investigation through delivery and measurable results.
  • Independent problem-solving skills and confidence navigating unfamiliar systems without step-by-step guidance.
  • Systems thinking and the ability to understand the full software delivery lifecycle, from code to production.
  • Clear, pragmatic communication skills and an iterative approach that avoids unnecessary complexity.
  • A collaborative attitude, low ego, and strong accountability.

Additional Experience That Would Be An Advantage Includes

  • Working with multiple cloud providers or hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Experience with Helm or Helmfile.
  • Familiarity with VMware or other virtualization platforms.
  • Strong networking fundamentals.
  • Experience building or maintaining internal developer platforms (IDPs).
  • Basic frontend development skills, particularly JavaScript or React, for internal tools.

Benefits

  • Fully remote, full-time working opportunity.
  • Salary range or initial compensation level shared with candidates during the recruitment process, before employment begins.
  • 28 calendar days of annual vacation.
  • 7 additional wellness days per year for personal needs, recovery, or household matters.
  • Referral bonuses of up to $5,000 for recommending successful candidates.
  • 50% reimbursement for professional training, international conferences, and professional events.
  • Corporate discounts for English lessons.
  • Health support of up to $1,000 gross per year per employee if not eligible for corporate medical insurance. This allowance can be used toward independently purchased health insurance or medical expenses for the employee and close relatives, including a spouse and children.
  • Workplace equipment and setup support, including access to equipped offices or coworking spaces. Employees working elsewhere may receive reimbursement of up to $1,000 gross once every three years for coworking costs or home-office equipment and internet expenses.
  • An internal gamified recognition program where colleagues can award bonuses that can be exchanged for company merchandise, team-building activities, massage certificates, and other rewards.
