Director's Assistant (Film Production)

Seeking a Director's Assistant (Work Experience) for Independent Film Production Company

Start Date: July 2026

Duration: 8 weeks

Hours: Flexible - 1 call per week (up to an hour), plus tasks to complete in your own time, working to your availability.

Location: Must be London-based. Most participation will be remote.

About the role:

Breaking Jar Ltd is an independent production company helping people achieve real-life change through fictional stories. We produce original films and media, as well as providing training and resources for UK artists and filmmakers, building a strong community through the power of meaningful stories changing lives.

You will be working directly with the Founder and Managing Director, Hunter Boydell, on a range of projects and tasks, as we seek to create wider exposure, entry-level access, and more worthwhile opportunities in UK film, with a particular focus on equipping aspiring Directors.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assisting with outreach campaigns to engage a wider audience
  • Research and analysis of data related to UK film production
  • Virtual event administration, e.g. co-hosting live Zoom calls
  • Optional: Content editing, e.g. video, audio, photos, for social media
  • Optional: Location research and scouting for future productions
You will need to have your own computer, smartphone, and internet access. Remote role - candidate must be based in London , with the potential for some in-person participation where feasible.

This is an unpaid internship, akin to a volunteer role or work experience placement.
