Film Acquisitions Intern

Join NBCUniversal as a Film Acquisitions Intern to evaluate content, manage script submissions, and support film market logistics within a leading global media company.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

  • Reading scripts, evaluating screeners and programmes, and providing commercial and creative feedback
  • Managing all script submissions and acting as a central intelligence hub for the team
  • Pitching new ideas for projects and emerging talents, the Content Group should be working with
  • Researching potential new titles, genres, talents, brands, and IP
  • Managing logistics for film markets, including Cannes, Berlin, TIFF, and AFM
  • Preparing internal pitch documents and forecast requests
  • Preparing new deals for internal Board Approval
  • Running P&Ls, comparables, and drafting offer letters
  • Shadowing acquirers on deals
  • Updating internal databases, trackers, and performing administrative duties
  • Liaising across different Departments in the Content Grou,p both in the UK and internationally (e.g., legal, marketing, content strategy,) and different business units (e.g., Focus Features)
  • Monitoring artist, entertainment, and review websites daily to stay informed on new talents, gigs, projects, and current trends

About You

What you'll need:

  • Knowledge of and passion for film and documentary
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience reading scripts or commercially/creatively assessing content is a plus
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and undertake various administrative duties
  • Attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure
  • Eligibility to work in the UK without restriction for the internship duration (29 June 2026 – 23 July 2027)
  • Currently an undergraduate returning to full-time education in Autumn 2027, or seeking work experience after completing A-Levels, an equivalent course, or an Apprenticeship

Training & Development

  • The intern will learn to evaluate content for acquisitions on a global level, improve critical thinking, script reading, and content evaluation skills, and gain an understanding of the business side of film, including pre-buying, running numbers and comps, drafting offers, and negotiating deals.
  • By the end, the intern will have a thorough understanding of the film distribution lifecycle applicable to both studio and independent distribution sectors.
