Yard Operative – Evening Shift

Pay: £16.00 per hour + £1.50 shift premium
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 16:00–00:00
Additional Hours: Occasional Saturday working may be required to support customer orders

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Yard Operative to join a busy and fast-paced depot in Mansfield.

This is a hands-on, physically demanding role involving forklift operation, picking and preparing customer orders, loading and unloading vehicles, and general yard duties. The successful candidate will be reliable, safety-conscious and keen to develop their skills, with the opportunity to progress into a Yard Supervisor position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a forklift truck in line with health and safety procedures
  • Pick, prepare and label customer orders accurately and on time
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently
  • Check incoming and outgoing goods for accuracy and quality
  • Report any damaged, missing or incorrect stock
  • Maintain accurate stock levels and assist with stock checks
  • Use warehouse systems to process orders and update stock records
  • Keep the yard and warehouse clean, organised and safe
  • Provide a professional and helpful service to customers, drivers and colleagues
  • Follow all company health and safety procedures
  • Assist with deliveries when required
  • Carry out other reasonable yard and warehouse duties as required

Requirements

  • Valid accredited Forklift Truck Licence – essential
  • Previous experience working in a yard, warehouse or similar environment
  • Full UK driving licence held for at least 1 year
  • No more than 6 penalty points on your driving licence
  • Good attention to detail and a strong work ethic
  • Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Professional and courteous approach when dealing with customers and colleagues
  • Able to remain calm and organised in a busy environment
  • Flexible approach to working hours when required
  • Willingness to carry out deliveries when required
